Tsubaki Rolls Out New G7 Roller Chain

Vast Improvements in Wear Life and Drive Performance

Tsubakimoto Chain Co., Ltd. (“the Company”) announced today that sales of its next-generation RS roller chain, “G7”, will begin June 1, 2006. Boasting greatly enhanced performance over the current model, the G7 is the latest in RS roller chain lineup, which is the primary product in Chain division.

G7 Roller Chain

Since 1953, when the Company adopted JIS standards, a roller chain model changeover has taken place every 10 years. With the seventh model change, the Company has christened this model “G7”, meaning generation seven.

Based on the current RS80 model, the G7 boasts world-class drive performance and a major improvement over the current model thanks to the use of our innovative materials, heat treatment, and manufacturing processing technologies. The Company has equipped the G7 with its proprietary LD solid bush technology (patent pending), which provides the model with double the wear life of the RS80 and 33% better drive performance.

The G7 offers both size-down selection and enhanced wear life, meeting the key user needs of long use and compactness.

Main Characteristics

  1. Twice the Wear Life (models RS 80-140)
The wear life is double the current model thanks to the adoption of the LD solid bush (patent pending). New cold forging processing technology enabled the LD (lube dimple) to be designed on the inner circumference of the seamless bush. The seamless design and LD help to improve the wear life to double the current model, which in turn provides large maintenance cost savings to customers.
*LD (lube dimple): By designing the LD on the inner circumference of the bush, the lubricating oil is better maintained, increasing the life of the product. This technology was developed by the Company, and has been filed as a patent.
  2. Drive Performance Improves by 33% (RS80~240)
The G7 features a 33% improvement in drive performance as well as size-down selection (down by one size), ensuring overall cost savings for customers.
  3. Universal Design (enhanced product usability)
    1. Markings for easy identification (RS40~240) The Tsubaki brand name chain size are engraved in the link plate, enabling customers to easily identify the chain and its maker during replacement.
    2. Newly designed packing container (RS40~240)
      • A photograph of the chain is printed on the box, enabling easy identification of the contents.
      • An easy-opening device is adopted for the package to prevent injuries and improve handling.
      • Environmentally-friendly soy ink and recycled paper are used for the packaging.
