Tsubaki Emerson to Release Shock Relay® SC Series
Current-detecting overload protection device with communication functions
Makes it easy to construct a remote monitoring system for multiple processes
Tsubaki Emerson Co. (President: Tadashi Ichikawa; Headquarters: Nagaokakyo, Kyoto; A subsidiary of Tsubakimoto Chain Co.) will release the SC Series on June 1--a new series of shock relay models that offer communication functions in addition to conventional features.
The SC Series (standalone type on left, panel-mounted type on right)
Shock relays are easily connectable overload protection devices that detect motor current to protect equipment from damage caused by overloads. They operate only when a problem occurs, outputting a signal when the motor current exceeds the preset value for the preset amount of time.
The SC Series can detect overcurrent, phase reversal, phase loss, unbalancing and locked-rotor current, and can output alarms. In addition to these conventional functions, the SC Series has new communication functions that enable load monitoring and settings changes from long distances, and make it easy to construct a remote monitoring system for multiple processes.
Series models have output functions ranging from 4 to 20 mA, letting you send output signals proportional to equipment current values to a sequencer. This feature lets you use SC Series models with equipment such as mixers and crushers to change motor speed according to mixer resistance load, or change load volume according to crusher load status.
In addition to the conventional standalone type with the shock relay body and display in a single unit, a panel-mounted type with a separate body and display has been added to the lineup. It is designed for inset mounting of the display on a control panel.
Features
- Communication functions enable central monitoring of process load
The communication functions of the SC Series make it easy to construct a remote
load monitoring system. Monitoring software allows technicians to monitor the
shock relay status of each process and change settings from a long distance
away. - 4 to 20 mA output enables actions tailored to actual loads
Output signals proportional to current values can be sent to a sequencer to
change the motor speed of a mixer according to its load resistance. The signals
can also be sent to a recorder for load examination and analysis. - Panel-mounted type with separate body and display
Panel-mounted models are available that enable the display to be inset in a
control panel. These models allow load statuses to be checked from outside a
control panel. - CE marking and RoHs directive compliance
Applications
- Applications using mixers, crushers or other equipment requiring changes in motor speed or input volume according to actual load
- Applications requiring remote checking of shock relay statuses
Product Lineup
- Standalone type: 3 models
- Panel-mounted type: 3 models
