Environmental Approach

The Tsubaki Group utilizes environmental accounting to quantify the economic and ecological benefits obtained through its environmental conservation activities as well as the cost of these activities. We use this information to analyze the progress of environmental conservation activities and implement continuous improvements. Here we provide a summary of our main environmental accounting data.

FYE 2013 Environmental Accounting

Environmental accounting

In the fiscal year ended March 31, 2013, as environmental considerations accompanying the construction of the new assembly factory at the Saitama Plant, we invested proactively in a variety of energy efficient equipment such as photovoltaic power generation, LED lighting throughout the building, and GHP* air conditioning. These improvements added up to a total conservation investment of approximately ¥860 million. While costs such as generator operation expenses due to power savings over summer (maximum power reduction) and other causes were incurred, cost savings in other areas kept total expenses at approximately ¥770 million, around the same level as the previous fiscal year.
The Tsubaki Group uses its environmental accounting system to analyze the cost of environmental conservation and the economic and ecological benefits obtained through environmental conservation activities. This information will be subject to disclosure and will also be utilized continuously in future environmental activities.
*GHP = Gas Heat Pump. A heating and cooling system that uses a gas engine to operate an air compressor.
