Epsilon Chain™ Stainless Steel Series is an Ultra-Small Roller Chain Recognized by Guinness World Records™ as the World’s Smallest

On October 1, 2024, Tsubakimoto Chain Co. (Head office: Kita-ku, Osaka, President and Representative Director: Takatoshi Kimura) will begin selling Model RS6 Epsilon Chain Stainless Steel Series, the world’s smallest roller chain. Featuring a pitch of only 1.905 mm between pins of each link, this product has been recognized by Guinness World Records as the world’s smallest roller chain.

This product was certified by Guinness World Records as the “world’s smallest commercially available roller chain.” On September 20, a certification ceremony was held at the Kyotanabe Plant in Kyoto Prefecture, where this industrial chain is manufactured. At this event, a certificate was presented to the company’s president and representative director, Takatoshi Kimura, and to the development team.

Epsilon Chain features a pitch of only 1.905 mm, which is roughly half that of the Model RS11, our previous smallest roller chain, which was 3.7465 mm. This compact design makes it possible to transmit power in extremely confined spaces, a challenge that has long presented difficulties. This new product is expected to contribute to increased miniaturization and precision of medical and healthcare devices, industrial robots, and other power transmission mechanisms. It is also likely to accelerate the further spread of these devices, which will help to reduce labor requirements while enhancing the energy efficiency of manufacturing sites.
